Cons? They're .22! Save up and get the real things. With that said, the MP5 clone is nice and light and a great first gun for new shooters.

Big 5 has a sale right now on the ATI GSG-5 for $389.99... Just picked one up and waiting for the 10 day to expire.

They both use proprietary mags. Other than that I know that the older GSG's had some FTF issues. My buddy has one of the first runs and it has taken some time to get it running smooth. Also they are a bit of a pain to clean. (compared to AR-15 style .22LR)
Son, one day you will make a girl very happy, for a short period of time. Then she will leave you and be with men who are ten times better than you could ever hope to be. These men are called Marines.

Why?? So he can spend thousands building a neutered one and a ton of money on ammo?? .22s are fun and cheap.

If money for getting ammo is an issue for you, like it is for me. You got to at lease get one 22lr for fun. I got the HK M416. It's a fun rifle to shoot without destroying your wallet. It is a nicer looking gun IMO, you can pimp it out more if you want, and you don't have that stupid bullet button look. lol I would rather buy a M1A just because it kept the integrate of its look. But here's a pix of my HK M416.

Exactly!. (and because we will all point and laugh at him at the range)..oh wait...that was supposed to be a secret.

BTW still only 10 rds for the .22 as well so, it's "neutered"as well. Damn... that's harsh!

Except for that darn BB, at which point, the 22LR AR guys will be pointing and laughing at your mag changes.

Save up another $100 and get mp15-22 or a sig522, why spend money on a gun with parts that are fake and just put there to look cool (pretty much all umarex rifles) and with some pretty questionable reliability. Spend the money on a quality piece IMO

Last summer my 13 year old daughter "claimed" my old Marlin Model 70HC rifle. It's her's now and while I do have a 10/22, I've never warmed up to the Ruger. I just keep it when my nephews tag along when I go shooting.
I already have my centerfile bases covered. I just want a AR or MP5 in rimfire and I like these. It's the Umarmex one not the GSG5 BTW. I love shooting .22s with my daughter. BTW she is one excellent marksman er girl...
