pushing the .22 LR limit... how far can you go?

I've been watching some youtube clips of some seriously long .22 shooting... I, myself, was consistently hitting the metal target @ the 200 yrd marker at Lytle Creek when I was out there the other day. granted, it's a fairly large target, but 200 yds is a long shot with a .22 LR. what do you think the limit is for accuracy is with a rimfire rifle?

We shoot 200 yard prone matches and most shots (if the wind coopperates) stay within about a 6" circle. I've lobbed rounds at a large steel ram at about 400 yds and could hit it about 1 out of 10 shots.

Son, one day you will make a girl very happy, for a short period of time. Then she will leave you and be with men who are ten times better than you could ever hope to be. These men are called Marines.

My last trip to the range was pretty windy but I was hitting the steel plate at 200 yards with about 40% of the shots I put off at it. The wind was really bad though. My groups past 50 yards that day were complete garbage. Wind was blowing my shots all over the place on the 100 yard target (I know I am not so horrible of a shot to do an 8" group at 100 yards)

yeah, 200 yds is where I'd like to be accurate to.... it will take some practice, but that's my goal.

Hypervelocity ammo is usually not good for pure accuracy. Match grade sub sonic is what everyon shoots for precision.

so, I shot today at the Lucerne Valley Lions Club range.... 100 yards in moderate to high crosswinds. from the bench using my bipod and no rear rest. my results are below. as indicated in the picture, these are 8" targets. I was using Remington Target .40 grain ammo. I actually had no issues with these rounds, although I've read some pretty poor reviews of them.
