Between the Buckmark and the MKIII i'd go for the Buckmark, not saying that the MKIII isn't a great gun. I owned a MKIII 6 7/8 Hunter model and just traded it out of my collection. Some guns just feel right in the hand and when shooting them and some don't.
A .22 Pistol that i wouldn't overlook is the S&W 22A. I own this gun and it just feels right. After the break in it has shot everything i've feed it. Also the take down procedure is a little bit easier than either the Buckmark or the MKIII. Extra barrels of different lengths can be purchased as well. Mounting optics is easy due the full length barrel rail system. The link will take you to a pic of my setup. It's not uncommon for me to put 10 round in a quarter at 25yards standing with the Red Dot. I'm not sure what your budget is but if you price out these 3 pistols you'll be suprised at what you find out.
Good luck with your decision, and remember you can never have too many guns

Smith and Wesson 22A with Bushnell TRS-25 Red dot. This is a great combo. I found that with the Red Dot attached it evened out the front heaviness of the pistol. Now the balance is perfect.

I have both and prefer the Buckmark for the grip. Of course YMMV. A Mark III goes for around $330 while a Camper is around $349. At those prices I'd get both as they are quality firearms.

I bought a MKIII, but you can't go wrong with either. Sometimes you gotta just flip a coin and pick 1... Then get the other next time

Have you shot the Buckmark and Ruger? I did and that why I own both pistols. But if I could only have one I would probably go with the Ruger. Easier to get accessories for and extra mags are cheap.

Both have strong followings and are nice guns. I have no personal experience with the Buckmark, but wouldn't mind getting one. I have 5 Rugers and love them.

The Ruger you can definitely rent at an indoor range. The two that I've gone to don't have the Buckmark unfortunatly(Which is the one I want).

Another vote for Ruger because of mod-ability. I just can't leave anything stock

I have both also, but the Buckmark gets more use. It's also much easier to disassemble.

We have a Ruger 22/45 and our friends have a Buckmark. We went shooting with them and his wife preferred our 22/45 and my wife preferred their Buckmark. I haven't tried to disassemble and clean a Buckmark but I agree that the Ruger can be difficult the first few times you take it apart for cleaning. Just like most everything else it gets easier the more times you do it.

Went through the same decision and opted for the 22/45 over the Buckmark due to sturdiness. The firing pin isn't as prone to breakage as the Buckmark when dry firing. Also the Camper models of Buckmarks have a cheap plastic rail holding the gun together which can break if you over tighten the screws. Otherwise I think the Buckmark looks better and feels better without mods (my 22/45 is modded to accept 1911 grips). It also has a slightly better trigger out of the box than the Ruger, but I think they both have good triggers and are accurate guns.

If you really want the Buckmark, you should consider saving up a little more for the model above the standard Camper to avoid the plastic rail as it costs something like $60 just to replace it with a metal one.

I haven't shot the mk3 but I did shoot a hunter. I like the buckmark better. Thats why I have one. Not to mention I want the carbine version too
