browning buckmark or ruger mark 3

Between the Buckmark and the MKIII i'd go for the Buckmark, not saying that the MKIII isn't a great gun. I owned a MKIII 6 7/8 Hunter model and just traded it out of my collection. Some guns just feel right in the hand and when shooting them and some don't.
A .22 Pistol that i wouldn't overlook is the S&W 22A. I own this gun and it just feels right. After the break in it has shot everything i've feed it. Also the take down procedure is a little bit easier than either the Buckmark or the MKIII. Extra barrels of different lengths can be purchased as well. Mounting optics is easy due the full length barrel rail system. The link will take you to a pic of my setup. It's not uncommon for me to put 10 round in a quarter at 25yards standing with the Red Dot. I'm not sure what your budget is but if you price out these 3 pistols you'll be suprised at what you find out.
Good luck with your decision, and remember you can never have too many guns

The Ruger you can definitely rent at an indoor range. The two that I've gone to don't have the Buckmark unfortunatly(Which is the one I want).R.I.P. Thomas C.Originally posted by d4v0sMy girlfriend and i used froglube last night in a pinch and it works great.Comment

We have a Ruger 22/45 and our friends have a Buckmark. We went shooting with them and his wife preferred our 22/45 and my wife preferred their Buckmark. I haven't tried to disassemble and clean a Buckmark but I agree that the Ruger can be difficult the first few times you take it apart for cleaning. Just like most everything else it gets easier the more times you do it.Comment

Went through the same decision and opted for the 22/45 over the Buckmark due to sturdiness. The firing pin isn't as prone to breakage as the Buckmark when dry firing. Also the Camper models of Buckmarks have a cheap plastic rail holding the gun together which can break if you over tighten the screws. Otherwise I think the Buckmark looks better and feels better without mods (my 22/45 is modded to accept 1911 grips). It also has a slightly better trigger out of the box than the Ruger, but I think they both have good triggers and are accurate guns.
If you really want the Buckmark, you should consider saving up a little more for the model above the standard Camper to avoid the plastic rail as it costs something like $60 just to replace it with a metal one.Last edited by gorenut; 02-12-2012, 5:31 PM.Comment
