    New GSG 1911 Question

I took my GSG 1911 to the range for the first time today. I had a great time and the gun ran flawlessly with CCI MiniMags. The groups were pretty good as well considering who (me) was shooting. They were all 2-4 inches low as I went out to 25 yards. It came with the tallest front sight so when I got home I switched to the lowest. I didn't want to drop that tiny allen wrench at the range. Those of you with this gun, what front sight seems to work best for you?

I tired the low sight today and at 15 yards I was a couple inches over an 8 inch target. Then I switched to the middle heighth and still a little high, but workable. An adjustable sight may be in my future.

There's a long thread about the GSG 1911 over on 1911forum.com. (http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=277715) It seems the consensus is that the medium sight works the best out of the box. In fact I got the impression that the gun came with the medium sight installed.

I use the medium site here, but none of them are perfect for me at 15 yards.

I need to take one of them and file it down, or better yet, replace them with some real sights. I would love to have a rear sight that is adjustable.

Medium here. I shot 150 rounds of Minimags flawlessly. Then I switched to Blazer bulk and Federal blue box bulk and the gun continues to run perfectly!!! Don't overlook the cheap stuff.

This is my opinion as well. I had similar issues out of the box, went to the tallest sight and that was much worse. Medium works best so far.

That can't be right. The tall sight should make you shoot low, meaning your POI is lower than your POA. If that's really the case, you may consider putting it in a rest and trying again. It's either operator error or a serious defect.

I put a Laserlyte boresighter on mine and picked the middle height, but I'm still not liking the aim point. I've purchased an adjustable rear sight and will be fitting that into the dovetail in the next few days. I changed out the thumb safety tonight, that squared off edge on the left safety was digging into my thumb.

Wow. That's pretty bad. Are you sending it in for repair? Mine is spot on from 50ft with the medium.

Mine came with the talles sight affixed. I found it was shooting a little low so I swapped out with the medium sight. Much better with the medium sight.
