I brought home my newest addition yesterday, a ruger mark 1. In looking into things for it i was told that it wouldnt take mark 2 or 3 magazines. I was curious as to what the differences are? I was told the only difference is that the plunger to help load the magazine is on the opposite side, but can be moved to the other side. Just need to know before i buy extra magazines. thanks in advance

Thats all you have to do. Im using MK2 mags in my A54 frame Ruger Standard with the button moved to the opposite side currently. No big deal.Motivated Lance Corporal of Marines. Semper Fidelis. -
For the Ruger Standard and MkI, there are 2 different frame designations depending on how old your gun is. 1949 thru 1970 were the A54 frames and the magazines have the button on the right side. In 1971, the frames were modified and the magazines button moved to the left side. These frames are stamped A100. If you have an A100 frame, you can use MkII magazines without swapping the button to the other side. Also, the grip panels on A54 and A100 frames are not interchangable.Comment
