    Sig Mosquito catastrophic failure!--UPDATE

Was shooting today and my sig had a cat. failure. the front portion of the slide split apart. I was shooting regular CCI Blazer bulk ammo (which is what the gun likes best) and it just split apart... I put over 20,000 rounds thru this gun already and its over 2 yrs old, do you think I should send it back to sig and see what happens?

I keep saying that these guns seem to end up with problems between 20K and 30K rounds but, most people here won't believe me. Yea, I'd send it back and see what Sig will do for you.

Here are some more photos. I will be sending it back. I had the slide stop lever spring pop out after the 2 yr warranty, they still fixed it for free so we'll see what happens with this gun. The frame and barrel seem fine, its just the slide I think. it actually fired after this happend, It kept jamming and I was wondering what the heck, then I saw the damage

the manual says 1 year for the mosquito, and the others are lifetime.

Contact Sig and see what happens.
                        Be nice.

They say 1 year because on the 22 the slide is pot aluminum and not stainless like the other calibers. If you do a google search it is a very common problem with the mosquito, the walther p22 and i see it in the future of the new Ruger Sr22.

I wouldn't mention the 20,000 round count to sig.
