My experiences have been that 22lr comps are kinda like a waste of mula. The only thing i like is the added look and the change in the sound of the shot.

I have to say, in the 3k rounds I've put through my 22/45, I've never thought to myself, "You know what this gun needs? A compensator because there's just too much muzzle flip."

But hey, to each their own. If you get one, let us know how it works.

          I've got one on a KMK678GC. It's pretty cool.

I realize that you aren't trying to tame the beast but the way the pistol just sits there making little thup thup noises is worth it. The only hassles I've run into involve the mounting screw. No loc-tite and it'll back out. Loc-tite and when it snaps off clean you have to chase it out of the hole with a center punch.

There is a cylindrical grindstone attachment for Dremel tools which is perfect for taking out the lead buildup. You have to grab the last eighth of an inch to get it all the way to the far end but it is way faster than the peroxide and vinegar approach.

I spoke to Scott Volquartsen about comps for the 10 inch barrels, unfortunately Ruger doesn't keep their dimensions consistent enough to make it possible. Too thick or too thin and the comps won't fit reliably.

i think there cool but they do get filthy and over time they will loosen, as for recoil reduction there doesn't seem to be any recoil or muzzle flip at all with the comp on

But there is barely any recoil or muzzle flip out of a 22/45 in the first place since it's so heavy. If we were talking about a taper barrel mk series yeah, but on a bull barrel 22/45? No.

no...not functionally...looks? whatever appeals to you...

FWIW...i took the volt comp off of the 22/45 and installed it on my .17 HMR volt barreled 77/22...works OK on the rifle...

NO.......Do what appeals to you if you like the looks. I personally don't like they way look nor the added clutter. IMHO, your better served installing VQ trigger improvements.

I bought the Tactical Solutions compensator (very similar to Volquartsens) really because it looks just too cool on the end of the barrel to be honest. Any effect on recoil ,which is minimal anyway, is unnoticable to me. I shoot my pistol slowly but I understand the compensator comes to it's own even with .22 recoil on multiple quick shot shooting for easy recoil recovery. I've never needed to shoot that quickly. My paper targets pretty much stay where I staple them.
