Hey All,
Just picked up a Sig Swat Commando. Figured I'd throw out initial impressions followed by a range report then a full Run'N'Gun review.
Have been doing the Run'N'Gun thing for a while now. Bought a bunch of steel targets, trees, racks, gongs & stuff. Idea was to get out, get some quality trigger time & some exercise to boot. Its been working out Great! Been runnin' with a Tacticool 10/22 & 22/45...

This setup works great but I've been wanting to change it up & add more options (sniper course, etc...).
The 10/22 is gonna get re-packaged as a sniper-style rifle w/scope. Needed a dedicated Run'N'Gun assault rifle.
Did alot of research. Requirements were: Reliability, quality, ease of maintenance & cool factor. The Sig won out on all those (notice I did not mention price- it wasnt cheap).
Saw the new Swat Commando version earlier last year and was hooked.

initial impressions after unboxing/ cleaning/ gearing up:
Very high quality fit & finish. Upper receiver very well made/ solid. Anno & blueing
very well done. Furniture is solid/ stiff. Buttstock has some movement in the sliding mechanism (no worse than my M-4) and is a little on the short side, but seems well made. Folding mechanism is stout with rock-solid lockup.
Controls are stout, with a smooth/ well engineered feel. Ambi safety is Very Nice. Ambi mag-release works as advertised. Have heard MANY good things about the trigger, and having only dry-fired it so far, I agree- EXCELLENT! Is firm, but smooth with even spring tension & a clean break.
Field-strip is a no-brainer. Similar to an AR-15/ M-4. Pop the rear push-pin, open 'er up, pull bolt to rear, pop out charging handle, remove bolt. 10 seconds. All internals seem Very well engineered & rendered. Bolt operation is smooth & solid. Goes back together just as easy.
Shoulders naturally. With the stock/ cheek-weld being below the plane of the upper receiver, it sets up best with lower mounts & smaller objective optics.
Aluminum upper & quad-rail combined with the fake can are hefty, on par with my M-4. I would SBR this thing in a heartbeat if it were legal.
First range report to follow shortly.
