CMMG BHOA Actuator with BlackDog Mags

Howdy guys... I have a dedicated CMMG 22lr Upper and I heard recently that there is a new device called the BHOA Actuator that allows the rifle to maintain all the same actions as a regular AR15 so I can actually use the side paddle.

It seems it was designed to work specifically with CMMG BHOA mags.

CMMG does however say it is possible to use the actuator with Blackdog mags if you do some modifications to them.

Anyone ever tried this?

(I'd love to buy new CMMG mags, but given that I just bought a dozen Blackdogs... kind of sucks to go and buy all new CMMG mags)

I might work with the black dog ones, but it won't actuate the last round BHO.

Never tried it with blackdog mags, just I was never able to even make it work even with the newest CMMG mags. I think my lower must be slightly different spec than what most others use. I would give you mine, but it actually cracked in half from binding so tight with mags in the magwell.

If the upper was tight closing on the BHOA or if when opening the upper, the BHOA is stuck in the upper. It's too tight and the sides of the frame need sanded. Different tolerances from different receivers.
If the BHOA is in a bind, it will cause a function problem.
The biggest issue that keeps the BHOA from locking the bolt back is too much bolt catch spring tension. I clip 2 coils off the BC spring. Still functions for 5.56 and operates with the BHOA.

Now for the BDM mags. You will need to use the Gen l BHOA followers and springs from CMMG. You will need to make sure there are no imperfections in the channel of the mag. You will also need to file a 45 degree angle on the rear of the feed tower where the follower pops up. Then pray it works since you invested the money.
I tried it, ditched it, and never tried it again.
