I got a Rugger Hunter 3

I never used it, i understand it will be hard to take it apart and clean it from seeing it done on You Tube.

On Saturday, I did a full detail strip, added a Sam Lam bushing, and did the slingshot mod to my brand new MKIII 22/45. I just watched a couple youtube vids before hand and used the step by step directions on guntalk-online. It's really not as bad as many folks make it out to be. The most difficult part for me was getting the receiver separated from the grip frame. That SOB was tight. Almost embarrased to admit I had to use a rubber mallet. When you tackle yours, take your time and have lots of reference material handy and you'll be ok.

Ruger should include a rubber mallet in the box.
But seriously, it does get easier over time.

Whatever the mod is called where you remove the magazine disconnect... I did that... and it makes disassembly a lot easier: no more extra steps of "insert magazine, pull trigger, remove magazine".

I also use a rubber mallet to seperate (and reassemble) the grip from the reciever.

The pin that holds the Loaded Chamber Indicator is steel... a magnet makes it really easy to remove for cleaning.

The instructions recommend using a "blunt pointed object" to release the housing latch (lever) on the mainspring housing. The instructions recommend a paper clip, but I find a loop of string to be much more effective and eliminates the chance of marring your gun (i.e. if you use something like a screwdriver).

Buy one of these, it makes it soooo much easier to disassemble for cleaning, and it gets rid of the mag disconnect. The biggest pain with these pistols is taking the mainspring housing out and putting it back in, this kit makes it so you don't have to do that anymore, it's awesome.
