    Umarex colt 1911?

Are these a decent gun to own? first hand gun.

    from what i've found out:

Licensed by Colt (name slapped on it)
    Made by Walther in Germany
    Dist. by Umarex

just wondering what you guys thought of it.

It's not on the approved list; so it'll need to be acquired via LEO sale, PPT, out-of-state intra-familial gift or as a dimensionally compliant single-shot pistol.

Heard it's on par with the GSG 1911 .22LR.

IIRC, it also has a threaded barrel and the way the gun is put together makes switching out the barrel (for SSE) difficult.
Picture from 1911.org, not the barrel is attached to the frame:

The full review from 1911.org is worth reading!
      here

I have yet to run across a dealer that can get it to work here in CA.
IF you find a dealer who says they can SSE it I am interested, especially if it means splitting the cost on an SSE barrel.

Nothing like a Colt 22LR. in a full size Govt. Model. All steel construction, too.

                  Yes.
The S&W/Umarex/Walther M&P-22 is currently not on the approved list.

While I love Colt products the GSG is just too much easier to get

I still want one, and as soon as I can figure out how to procure one I try. However the GSG1911 will keep me busy until then

                      They actually do make them:

The colt/Umarex does, so does the GSG. The Kimber conversion does not.
