    Volquartsen Pistol

Hey everyone, im about to turn 21 and was looking at buying a Ruger MKIII to celebrate the occasion. I was eying the 3.5" Compact from Volquartsen but im not sure if it is legal in Commiefornina. Is is legal, and does anyone have experience ordering from volquartsen.

its not on the safe handgun roster, dunno how hard it would be to single shot exempt one, or if VQ would be cool with doing it.

i wish i could get a ruger charger

"One thing to consider is that we cannot ship our conversions to California when we build them on a new pistol. What we need to do for California customers, is have them purchase a MKIII locally, and send it to us for the conversion. We offer a $320.00 credit when you supply the pistol."

        Best Regards,
        Nic

Masterlab and others that may be interested,

I emailed Nic Volquartsen about buying one of their pistols and the above was a direct quote from his return email. I ended up just buying locally, installing their accurizing kit, a Majestic Arms speed strip kit (which also eliminates the mag disconnect), Altamount rosewood grips and an aimpoint micro. I really saw no need to upgrade the barrel/receiver (Stainless Hunter with the long fluted barrel) as it seems way more accurate than I could possibly shoot offhand.

OK, here's some pics, hope it works. First time for pics except for one test pic.

Ruger MK3 hunter, Volquartsen accurizing kit, Majestic speed strip kit, Volquartsen bolt assist (heavily modified), factory scope rail cut/radiused/ buffed, flutes buffed with red jewelers rouge. I bought some supplies for jeweling the bolt, but practicing on scrap material revealed that doing this freehand is not an option, I'm thinking that I'll need a cross sliding vise to get that right. The Altamount grips are beautiful and they feel MUCH better than the factory. I highly recommend them!
