Walther P22 - Safety and hammer drop questions????

At the range, with the safety on and a mag in, I can pull the trigger and the hammer will drop. Doesn't go off, but having the hammer drop with the safety on is contrary to any logic I know.
Is this normal for this pistol? To allow the trigger to be pulled and the hammer drop with the safety on? It will even work in DAO with the safety on.

yeah, its normal. The safety on the p22 just blocks the firing pin from being hit. It also won't fire without the mag in place unless its been modified.

It is normal, but I don't fancy the idea of the full force of the hammer spring uncoiling and smacking the safety block. So, I put the safety on, then ease the hammer down slowly, like I do on my CZ's if I want to train to shoot DA.

this is one feature(besides the mag disconnect) that I really don't like about the P22, and wasn't expecting.
For me to it was a little worrisome and contrary to my logic. Why should I be slamming my hammer/firing pin into something.
Also when newbies shoot it, if they don't take the safety off the trigger moves just the same and the hammer drops, but it doesn't go bang which isn't as nice as having the trigger not move until the safety is off like some guns are.

Is there a kit out there to remove the mag disconnect for the P22?

not a kit per se ..
Hey guys, I know I could figure this out myself eventually, but I know someone has a quick answer to this question. Is there anyway to modify the P22 so that the magazine safety is removed and the pistol will fire without having to insert a magazine? I know the pros and cons dealing with a...
