    Rimfire ammo question

A few months back, I purchased some 22LR ammo and went to the range and had a great time. No FTF, FTE, everything fed fine-all 400 rounds! A few weeks later, I purchase the same brand and put them away until next time.
Today was next time! Every 3rd or 4th round would not fire, some would not feed, others would not eject. Ammo problem or Rifle? Rifle (Remington 597)is clean and has never had any of these issues in the past. I did store the ammo in the garage. Is that a problem?

no where you stored it is not the issue

try the ammo in another rimfire rifle

Try buying some different ammo and giving that a try in your rifle
Rimfire rifles can be very particular some times and testing is needed when they get picky

Make sure the chamber is clean, really clean. Mags clean? Action lubricated? Usually the same ammo will perform the same. Perhaps you got a bum batch.

I have totally taken down the rifle. Cleaned and lubed the bolt, receiver, rails, cleaned the barrel, cleaned the mags. Hopefully i can find out if this makes a difference later this week.

be sure to lubricate it the night before you go. If you dont shoot it for a week the oil will dry and run out of where it needs to be.
