    Ruger model 77/22 accuracy WOW

Finaly took this new to me used rifle out yesterday to sight in. Topped this Ruger with a Redfield 3x9 bought used at a local gun store in Placerville For only $40-, to my surprise as I sighted in at 50 yards with basic Winchester Power Point HP, it kept the same point of impact with the next to follow Remington round nose high vel., CCI Stinger hollow points. I then tried a new ammo I never heard of until our last gunshow, Aguila Super Maximum Velocity HP, the Aguila grouped dead center TIGHT @ 1/4" high. Wow! what an accurate .22 in my book. I ran out of time to increase to the 75 or 100 yard try out Due to other sight in and try outs, was also amazed at the much louder bang from the Aguila and I am hoping to try it out at 100 plus yards in itself. Has anyone ever tried this Ruger and or this Aguila ammo out over 100 yards ? I would be curious to here.I have always enjoyed the long range accuracy of my Rem. Mod. 581,very smooth action, fiberglass beded for 30 plus years now. I think this 77/22 could be my new favorite as the Mauser action is also very smooth to say the least !
Lead will be worth more than silver and gold when they are giving it away free !

The velocity on the Aquila Super Max is 1750 FPS, fastest .22lr ammo on the market so not surprised it is louder. Nearly the same velocity as .22Magnum. I have shot them with little success. Seems my rifles don't like them, they group 3" @ 50 yds and shoot shotgun patterns @ 100yds. They tend to be a dirty ammo so you may want to look at your bore after about 10 yds, if dirty, run a boresnake and keep shooting. Them Ruger 77/22s are nice rifles.

What rifle (s) are you shooting the Aguilas from? I have not tried my other .22 rifles except the 1022 which grouped high to the right (fired only 5 rounds).

Savage MKII BTVS - shot horrible.
CZ UltraLux - shot better but not good enough to buy again.
Zastava ZR - not bad but again not good enough to buy again.
Kimber 82g - best of the bunch, 5 shot group @ 100yds was 3" but I can do better with Standard Velocity Wolf MT in this rifle.

This was not just one box but a full brick of this ammo thru these guns. I found that the Aquila Interceptor shot much better. It is running at 1450 fps but pushing a 40 gr bullet. This ammo carries more energy @ 100 yds due to the heaver bullet even though its slower. Also shoots dirty, clean after 10-15 rounds or accuracy goes in the dumper.

With Standard Velocity ammo (Wolf MT) I can shoot MOA @ 50 and 100yds pretty routinely out of all my rifles except the Zastava Z5, but its close.

Got great results in my 10/22 and my 22/45 with Aguila ammo. Great stuff out to 80 yards. I have stretched it out to about 120 but it was really pushing it and it was not having the results on the intended target that I was looking for.
