Shooting with grandpa

I got to go out shooting with my grandpa yesterday. We shot his Remington model 34 that his father purchased in 1938. We also shot his 1961 Remington 572 lightweight that has the steel barrel insert in the aluminum. It's a beautiful blonde gun.
It's pretty awesome to go out and go plinking with your grandpa and shoot a gun that my great grandfather bought 73 years ago and it still shoots straight and true.

Very cool. I bet you both had an awesome afternoon. I haven't seen my grandfather in almost 18 years.. I'll get to see him in February. He knows I'm into firearms, and is looking forward to going shooting with my father and I. The last time he actually used a firearm (according to my father) was during his service in the U.S. Army back in 1945/46. My father used to own several rifles, but got rid of them when he married my mother.. I took him shooting for the first time in 25 years just a few months ago. He eagerly looks forward to our next range trip as well.

I never got to shoot with my Grandfather but my old man and i still shoot what he handed down. Shooting is one of the few times I get to spend quality time with him.

Great story, last time I shot with my grandfather was when I was 9, I no longer have that ability but I do shoot with my father as much as I can!

It is a great feeling to shoot with your Grandpa! I haven't in just over 30 years but I remember it like it was yesterday. He passed about 24 years ago but I did get all of his firearms

My grandfather bought me my first rifle 21 years ago, a Merlin Model 60. We still go out and shoot every once and a while together.

Nice story, Makes me want to call my grandpa and ask him to go shooting with me. But shooting a gun that his father purchased that long ago adds that extra touch.

Go every chance you get, you never know when the last time will be! My dad is 86, and If we get one more hunt in it will have to be a ground squirrel hunt. no real walking, and everything is shot from a bench. Hes had a couple of strokes, and doesnt walk well. DR

Let me get this straight, your great grandfather was born in 1938?

Holy moly... I am getting old... That is 50 years after my Great Grandparents were born. Heck that is just before my parents were born.

I can remember shooting with my grandpa on his farm many years ago. I now have the 22LR that I got to shoot with him from that time in my safe. It is one of my prized items.

I miss my grandpa.

no my great grandfather bought the rifle we were shooting in 1938, he was born long before that(1889), and my grandpa was born in 1927.

I do every chance I get, My grandpa had a stroke in January, but fortunately it didn't slow him down, we roofed a shed yesterday together haha.
but I do know that it won't last forever.

I took my oldest grand duaghter to shoot my AR. She is a very good student. She was hitting the bull in no time off a bipod. I was beaming.
No bad habits to undo.
Shot my .40 Glock too. Kind of surprised me.
