Talk me into keeping my Tactical .22?

I got a good deal on my colt m16 in .22LR, but I don't think i like the AR platform that much. i put it up for sale but might be having second thoughts. I want a 22 to go camping, so I might prefer something like a 10-22 compact, or an AR7. or an old military 22 trainer so the skills transfer to my other long guns.

That being said why should I keep my m4gery... m16 forgery?

I know its FUN, but not multipurpose.

I don't have any AR /AK type rifles so the skills do not translate.

Go with wat you need now if its accurate and decent size maybe keep. If accuracy is low then if you dont like ar maybe theres your choice. I once had a marlin papoose loved it did camping to plinkin.

The M16 look a likes are suppose to be trainers who shoot the real thing. For that to be used in a camping situation I'd leave it at home and get more of a survival rifle like you already mentioned.

You know, every time I look at a "tactical" .22, I'm intrigued. Big 5 always has them on sale and I would love one. But then, I peek inside my safe and realize I have a great Beretta Neos Carbine (light, small, accurate) and a very old Sears Mod 3T (traditional squirrel hunter)... which both cover my ".22" need. Honestly, if you were to sell your Umarex, you would be doing so at a loss, so my advice would be to keep it and simply add another .22 to the family.

10/22's are going for $125 at Big 5! If you live inSoCal, I saw on this forum that they are going for $110 at Turners. Those are screaming deals and just a great way to have your cake and eat it too - for just a few more dollars than it takes to fill my truck up with gas.

I guess because I do not have an AR and don't ever plan on getting one, the m16 has to go. There is only one sling mount. the RIS system, pistol grip and magazine are uncomfortable while slung, and it's a large rifle considering what it is.

It's more of a toy than an essential piece of equipment. Guess I'm going to let it go.

If you don't love it, sell it. Lifes too shot to try and convince yourself you should like it. Get a Marlin for $125 or a 10/22 and enjoy.
