    CV's vs savage?

Ok, my end goal is to get rem 700 .308 some day. but to pracitce and fun .22 bench gun. I looked at all the advice and have it narrowed down to one of.

    Savage Mark II TR,
    CZ 455 american,
    CZ 452 silhouette
    CZ 452 Varmint

Ill likely do a stock change to the CZ to a more tactical stock if that is the route I take.
Any last thoughts before I hit the gun store?

IMO, this is apples and oranges, the CZ is for and above the Savage, check to make sure someone offers tac stocks for the CZ..... Good choice, that is if you go with it?

Pick up and hold both, see how each one feels to you. Work the action, and see if the store will let you dry fire each. I had my heart set on a CZ 452 before I ultimately bought my Savage Mark II BTVS. At the time, I was unable to find a 452, all I could find was a 455 or 453, and I didn't like a couple things I'd read about changes CZ made. They are both fine guns, are in roughly the same price bracket, and both will shoot accurately/precisely if the shooter does their part. You will likely hear many opinions on these, much the same as a Chevy vs. Ford or Mac vs. PC thread would invoke.. in the end, I believe you should select the rifle that fits you (overall feel/function) best. I love my Savage, and one day, I plan to buy a CZ 452 as well. (when finances permit, anyway)

I have a CZ 452 UltraLux and a Savage BTVS, both fine rifles in their own right. The CZ is built better, heavier bolt, fit and finish shows more quality. The CZ will shot many different ammos well, the Savage will only shoot Wolf Match Target @ the accuracy of the CZ.

Not knocking the Savage its an accurate rifle with its favorite ammo, but if I could only keep one it would be the CZ. Cost was about equal, maybe a little more for the Savage.

This tactical stock is available for the CZ 452. It is made for a heavy barrel like the varmint. I have a 452 sporter weight barrel in it and it looks ok and shoots good.

I've got a Savage .17hmr and its a really nice gun. Its got a great fit and finish, its the BSEV with the fluted stainless bull barrel, boyds stock, and lots of goodies. For a do-it-yourself type of setup, you can't beat the trigger on those things. I got mine to 1lb 2oz with 15 minutes of work and a little patience. You can do the same thing on the .22's as well. I think the Savage MKII TRR would suit your needs really well.

I've got a Savage Mk III TR and have shot some exceptional groups with it. For a tac-style accurate rifle, it's tough to beat, especially from a value perspective.
