    .22 Magnum

Anyone know anything about the excel .22 magnum rifles?
    Are they quality built?
    What issues do they have.
I want a .22 mag semi auto, but I cant stand it when a gun will not feed properly and i get angry when they constantly jam.
For the price this seems to be a good buy, I would rather have a Magnum research .22 mag, but they are a bit more costly, however I'm intrigued by the carbon fiber barrel and light weight.

I have a Volquartsen in .22 magnum. I could not be happier. Very accurate -- certainly under 1 MOA. A bit pricey, but as in all things in life, you get what you pay for.

I don't know much about the rifle in question but generally I don't like the magnums. Ammo wise there too expensive and your better-off considering getting a 22 long rifle and use "hyper velocity" rounds! If you want to go well into the envelope then I suggest the 17HMR round. It's pretty pricey too but it's performance is well above the 22 magnum.

I would like to go with the Volquartsen, but that would cost me about as much as I spent on my 1911 this year and that purchase put me on the couch for a couple of weeks as well as on doggie dootie pick up detail.
I have a number of .22 LR in my safe at this time, I want something different and unusual, I do like the idea of a .17, but that would be in a bolt gun as they do not seem to work in a semi auto.

          Another option: http://www.cz-usa.com/products/view/cz-512/

These get good reviews on rimfirecentral.com for reliability and accuracy.

I don't own one but do own a bolt action 22, excellent in every way.

I saw one of the CZ's at turners and the down side to them is that they only have a 5 round mag and they are very homely in appearance.
Like having sex with an ugly girl or riding a moped, Sure it's fun but you wouldnt want your friends to see you riding either of them.
The price on them is ok less than 500, but I know I would hate the 5 round magazine I already do not like the California mandated 10 or less mags, but that is our state making life safe for everyone.

I would look into the tube fed models that various manufacturers offer (Marlin).

I had one of these years ago and loved it. If I remember correctly the model I used had 13 in the tube. However it was not semi-auto.

i definitly agree with going 17hmr, the marlin 917 was my first long rifle and i still love to shoot it years later.. the crack of the rounds going off and how flat they fly is great!

Ok so if anyone out here is in the know,
What is the difference between the Magnum research and the Volquartzen rifles.
Sit them side by side and it is hard to tell the difference in appearance.
Both use a 10/22 receiver and 10/22 magazines, both available with heavy stainless or light Carbon fiber barrels.
The top sight rails look identical and they both sport the same stock, what makes the Volquartzen worth 1/3 or more than a magnum research?

Cabelas Reno had one about 4 months ago for $100 with scope in nice condition. I screwed up and didn't buy it then. It was gone a few days later when i went back to the store.
