Shipping 10/22 to myself from another state?

Mod - I don't know where to post this, so feel free to move as necessary.

I have a Ruger 10/22 I got from my dad many years ago when I was living in NC; it's been collecting dust at my folks' house in NC ever since I moved to L.A. I want to get back into shooting, and would like to have the rifle here with me. I've searched quite a bit, but most of the info I've found about shipping a firearm seems centered around purchases from third parties.

How about shipping a firearm that I own to myself? Do I have to go through an FFL?

    Thanks,

    James

Yes you can do it without an FFL it technically needs to be you that drops it off and you have to be the one to sign for it on the receiving end as well

Q: May a nonlicensee ship firearms interstate for his or her use in hunting or other lawful activity?
Yes. A person may ship a firearm to himself or herself in care of another person in the State where he or she intends to hunt or engage in any other lawful activity. The package should be addressed to the owner. Persons other than the owner should not open the package and take possession of the firearm.
