    Pre-Ban Mag Question ??

I was recently reminded about a Bingham LTD 30 mag and adapter for a 10/22 I have here. I purchased it in the early '80s, and understand that these have not been imported into this country since the '80s. Ciener supposedly bought out the entire stock of these mags for his caliber conversions. The adapters are the only things still available (from Sarco for $45). Also have the original package label and instruction sheet. The mag has been mounted to test fit, but never loaded. These seem to have a cult following amongst those who use them and don't appear for sale often. Is this something that a 10/22 owner in Cali would be able to use legally.

There are no laws against owning or using them in California. But for over 10 years it has been illegal to manufacture, import, sell, offer for sale or loan them in California. The date of manufacture of the magazine is totally irrelevant.

So in essence, you are saying I should NOT offer this for sale to someone in Cali via this forum as I would be committing a crime. I guess it's easy to see why suppliers are erring on the side of caution when dealing in the state. Why is it that the current Federal regime has a problem with states trying to keep Illegal Invaders out and sues them into compliance, yet allows and encourages states to trample 2A rights???

Correct. It is legal for you to own and use a 30 round magazine, but it is not legal for you to sell, give, trade, etc, to somebody that is not in the exempt classification.
According to the law it's not even legal for you to mail it to somebody out of state.

Well if hes in AZ like his loc says he can sell it to anyone he wants just not to this state and a couple others.

I think its New York state or somewhere back east that has a normal cap magazine ban aswell but they don't have the part about that it had to be in your possession pre ban it just has to be a preban magazine. If you are dead set on selling it to make a big profit go check out their laws

i think those are the same mag as the thompson 22 but still people havent been allowed to sell magazines that have a capacity greater than 10 for over 10 years now

its quite shocking so many people keep asking about this

Well our state is one of the few really jacked up ones. Most Californian's don't understand our laws so why would an out of state person?

Mobile mode doesn't show locations. Yeah, do whatever you want.
