50 yards is a typical distance to zero rimfires. Get as stable as a position as you can, shoot 3 rounds, and adjust. Repeat as necessary. -
Start at 25 yards. Place rifle in a rest and aim at center of target where lines intersect. Fire a couple of rounds at the center of the target. Then have rifle pointing at the center of target and adjust redot to where the holes from the rounds impacted the target without moving the rifle. Then fire a few more rounds and repeat the process if needed. When you're dialed in at 25 yards you would then move your target to 50 yards. No need to go past 50 yards with a .22 lr. and it will not take you that many rounds to zero in the red dot.

Good instruction. I always manually bore sight mine to get it on paper before going to the range. secure the rifle, find a point to aim at. Look down the barrel and linr up with the point. Adjust the red dot to the same point. Careful not to move the rifle or upper in the process.

I find boresighting to be almost absurdly not worth it lol. I have a $180 green laser boresighter. Thing sucks down batteries like a whore on saturday night outside Norfolks main gate. I have better results just going to the range and starting with 3 well aimed shots at 25 yards and when I can get a decent group to be about 2 inches low and all about centerline I move out to 100 yards."Men sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

All good advice. I would suggest one other thing you may want to try. First, even sighting in @ 25 yds with a red dot you will not be able to see the bullet holes in a target at that distance, let alone 50 or 100yds.
Set up your target as suggested by others but also place a soda can, clay pidgeon, rock or what ever on the ground at the same range as your target. Take a shot and see where the bullet hits, adjust the red dot and repeat until you hit the object or at least hit near it then switch to the target. Will save you some ammo and a heck of a lot of walking to see where you hit the target. Shoot-N-C 5" target would be a good choice for shooting at 25/50 yds. Walmart sells them.Comment

Not true for me. Guess it just depends on how you do it. I've never used a laser bore sight. Just my free eye.I find boresighting to be almost absurdly not worth it lol.
