    best .22lr 1911 clone

Which is the best bang for the buck? I don't want to go cheap and get a nasty one but I don't want to waste money either.

I'd like a traditional wood/steel one if possible. But I don't know which ones are dogs and which are overall solid .22lr handguns. I don't own a fullsize .45 1911, never want to, never will, so I'm talking about a standalone rimfire version not a conversion kit.

    Thanks

Its not cheap but the best 1911 rimfire is the Kimber Rimfire Target. Its more accurate than my Ruger 22/45 and with the right ammo (CCI Blazer) its 100% reliable.

I have the GSG 1911 and am very happy with the gun. Mine shoots the Red Federal bulk ammo with no problems. I was out the door for under $400 so it is good value.

Ditto the GSG. Just got mine out of jail and really like it.

Just saw an add for Bob Marvel's 1911 conversion. Last shot bolt hold open. Nice that it's made by Nighthawk Custom, bad that it's $450, but they do guarantee 1 inch 10 shot groups at 50 yards with specific ammo.

Well, since it's the 1911's anniversary year, I am thinking this is the time to get one - lots to choose from. I'll see if I can get a sig into my hands before I choose, but that gsg is a good looking gun for the price. The Kimber is nice but I'm going for retro (and cheaper). It is beautiful though. Thanks all

I bought the GSG 1911, but its still in 10 day jail... so cant give you a range report.

I picked it over the Chiappa 1911-22, its around the same price.

I hope the GSG 1911 shoots as good as it looks.

Mine is "in the cart" at Buds as we speak; I am waiting for my FFL01 to email me the OK.

From what I have read it's a better choice over Chiappa.

Let's both cross our fingers and I'm jealous that YOURS is going to be at the range before mine.

Guess this is the year for 1911 .22's

Kind of sucks, but there is always the GSG 1911 which looks very similar.
