    tactical .22lr help

So im new to the whole tactical world as I am a Relic surplus shooter(aka. sks, m91 ect..) But i decided I would like to try some plinking with a tactical rifle just wasn't sure what to really get trying to stay around 400 or so. Was looking at the gsg522 or building a ruger 10/22 with the new promag archangel marauder conversion kit, any thoughts?

I think he meant the MK22 which is the rifle made to look like the SCAR

Polymer gun but pretty sturdy as long as you don't drop it from a two story window

You'd have to get it on sale for it to be $400 something, though. I think normally it's $500+
The SIG522 and the Colt/Umarex m4 or m16(forgot what it was) would probably catch your interest too. Don't remember the prices of them.

I would go Ruger and turn it into a tactical beast. Main reason, is there are a lot of accessories for them and they are not picky with ammo.

Get the Sig! Most accurate of the tactical .22's. Alum upper with poly lower. Cheap, reliable after market mags. There are a couple in the classifieds right now.

so today i went out and shot the mt22, the s&w mp15, and a sig 552, all were amazing fun great guns now the choice is that harder. On a foot note wow the mt22 dose not like remington amo at all the mp15 seems like it will cycle anything but dam iccs makes a dam sturdy gun it for sure dosen't feel like a plastic toy like some others. So I think i am going with the mk22 in the dessert tan coloring will post pics in 15 days after its ordered and the anguish of the wait. The sturdyness of it plus the fact I love the looks and feel of a scar were the deciding factors.

Why not consider the Archangel Marauder?

i run the colt m4 .22 and i am very pleased, only a handful of ftf in over a thousand rounds,i figure it was just bulk ammo.got mine at big 5 on sale for $459(carbine model).as much as everyone hates this gun its actually pretty solid, and very accurate.it does have its hang ups but i think its very solid.dont think you can go wrong with either of the three,i do know the sig comes with a nice case.i like the maurader

i would consider the ruger 'Tactical' SR-22 or building a 10/22.

i don't think there are many aftermarket accessories for the SR-22 where there is a whole culture of 10/22's out there.

i was facing the same dilemma a while back and after shopping around, i went to a Spikes Tactical ST-22, M4 carbine. the down side; it was well over your $400.00 price range.

i also have a 10/22 that's worn a number of different appearances...all are fun and enjoyable...accurate, reliable and plentiful.

Consider the Umarex MP5 A5 or SD. Should be around 500 or even cheaper if there's a sale.

I recently bought the MP5 A5 from my local Turners and it's been perfect so far. Around 500 rounds of different types of ammunition and no FTFs etc.
