    Ammo suggestions for Ruger 10/22

I'm in the market for a Ruger 10/22. I'm mainly getting this rifle because of the price of ammo. Can someone recommend a brand of bulk ammo that runs well with the Ruger 10/22? Thanks!

10/22's usually aren't that picky. Mine will eat anything I feed it.

Buy a couple boxes of each and see which brand your particular 10/22 likes

Mine loves the federal bulk from wal mart but it runs remington golds well too.

Ive shot 2 bulk boxes Federal Champion (Blue Box) through my 10/22, and so far have experienced only one misfire, due to the round's primer. Other than that, it seems that my 10/22 loves em!

Not too bad at $19.99 a box at Turners right now. The shelves are getting bare, though!

My stock barrel "Carbine" 10/22 like Winchester 333/555 bulk pack best. I bought 8 or 9 different types of ammo from different manufacturers and the groups in the Winchester were the tightest of all the "cheap" stuff.

My Green Mountain heavy fluted barreled 10/22 likes Wolf Match Target best.

Anything generally shaped like a .22lr filled with powder works in mine. Wallyworld bulk pack Fedearal for blasting, Wolf match target for accuracy (groups 1/2 the size of the bulk pack.)

Yes, agreed the Federal 550 or 525 boxes 36gr HV rimfire work very well and are better than the Remington Golden bullets. GanderMountain.com has them on sale for $18.99 with free shipping.

CCI Blazers all day long. Fed bulk when I run out.

If I get a FTF, I just toss the round. It's three cents, so not a big deal tossing it.

Whatever I can get for cheap except Remington Gold Bullets - avoid. The Remington Subs work fine though.

Try a second time, try and get the firing pin to hit the other side of the rim. They typically will fire. It it is a dud, throw it in the ranges "live ammo" bucket, or to do it yourself, pull the bullet out and dump the powder. Easiest way on a .22lr is to drill a 1/4" hole in some steel bar say 1/8 to 1/4 thick. Stick the bullet in the hole, and with your thumb push the case over. It will peel the bullet out enough to remove it.
