if you want CLEAR, BRIGHT, TRUE, reliable optics with many having "NO questions" lifetime guarantees? check Leupold, Swarovski, Nightforce, Burris, Weaver, Unertl, Leatherwood, Redfield, Schmidt & Bender to name a few...but be prepared to dig into the bank book...
top optics cost top dollar...it's that simple.NRA life member, US Army Veteran
i am a legend in my own mind...
we are told not to judge muslims by what a few do...yet, the NRA membership and firearms owners are ALL considered as radical...

I don't think Burris/Leatherwood/Redfield can make into that dig-into-the-bank-book list, they all offer products that's affordable unlike Swarovski/NightForce/Schmidt & Bender.
The optics talk's list, a little outdated though.

It all depends on your purpose. General hunting go with a 3-9x32 or 3-9x40, ultra target shooting go with something in the higher magnification ranges. I saw several recommendations for the Leapers and simmons type scopes. Nothing wrong with them for bright daylight at reasonable ranges. If you hunt, you need good enough glass for low-light shots. That means your going to spend minimum $125 If you reference the optics chart above, Burris Fullfield II or Nikon Prostaff level scopes are the bottom end of that range of scopes. I know they retail for a lot more, but you can find them cheap. My personal preference is Bushnell 3200 elite, Nikon Buckmaster type scopes or better, but that's probably just the age of my eyes talking. Still, for around $175 if you auction crawl for one, either of those last two will last your grandkids' lifetimes. The Nikon Buckmaster has ever so slightly more light transfer in dry weather. The Bushnell 3200 gives up about 1% of that transfer in favor of a moisture guard coating. I decide which rifle to take often by whether it's going to be dry or wet. If it's going to be wet, I take a rifle with a Bushnell on it. Dry, I take a Nikon. Or you could spend twice as much and get a Leupold with the same exact glass as the Nikon (because Nikon made the lenses for them.) LOL. You'll get Fantastic customer service for that extra money, but I've never heard much complaint about the others either. I use a Nikon Monarch or Meopta scope for really fine long-range hunting rifles, but a .22 will never reach that needed level of precision. Don't waste the money. You'll never exceed the abilities of the Buckmaster or 3200 with ANY .229mm and 45acp are equally lousy. There's not a dime's worth of difference in REAL terminal ballistics. Get over it.

I just bought the Nikon Rimfire with the bullet drop reticle. I looked at the Simmons while I was there, and there is no way the Simmons is better. Light transmission, edge to edge clarity, and contrast sucked on the Simmons.Originally posted by MunkIf you have a metal box that has "Anthrax" written on the side, are you a terrorist? or just a fan of a great band?sigpic"Those who would ban extended magazines, will say that although hundreds of thousands are in circulation and thousands more will surely be sold before a ban is enacted, it will be worth it if it saves just one life.
