m4 or m16 .22 accuracy?

Hey guys, so i currently have the colt umarex m4 in .22 but i am contemplating switching to the same gun but m16 version.

my main reason for wanting the change is the longer barrel length as im expecting better accuracy. should the swap give me better accuracy? or will i not notice it.

looking for shooting mainly at 100yards, maybe some messing around at 200

I used to have the Umarex m16 version and was very accurate. My uncle has
the m4 version. Mine was more accurate than his in terms of longer distances
beyond 75 yards. We both bought our rifles brand new but his was more picky with regards to the type of ammo used and had many FTF and light strikes. Out of 2500 rnds thru mine i only experienced 2 FTF because i didnt insert the magazine correctly.

i have a spikes ST-22.

it's not a 'tack driver' out to 75-100 yds (with A2 sights) but very near to it...good enough for accurate hunting/plinking...

I didn't measure my groupings but it was way more accurate
than the m4. It's best with HV rounds or cci mini mags but I never
had problems with other standard rounds. Give it a good cleaning
after shooting and well lubed and you should be fine.

i dont know how much more accurate u can get.. but alot of things comes in perspective when it comes to accuracy. has the gun been cleaned/oiled properly... ammunition.. weather... trigger pull.. how good the ZERO on the scope... and also the shooter. if u can hit a 3 inch target at 100yrds.. i think thats pretty darn good... hit a 5 inch target at 200... thats really good. 300yrds pushin it... LOL

i fully understand what you are saying and agree with you, but you are missing my question. What im looking to find out is that with all other factors equal will the 21in barrel be more accurate than the 16in barrel. I think that is an obvious yes of course, but refining my question, id like to know if the accuracy is noticeable and large, or if its a small difference

If there is a difference it's either due to barrel quality or sight radius. A longer barrel has nothing to do with accuracy.
A .22LR burns all the powder in 16 to 18"
200 yards is a lot to ask of a .22LR. Of course with enough arc you can lob a bullet in but there are so many variables that can throw a .22LR off, it's not going to be precise.

You can reach and touch 300 yards with a 22 if you wanted to. I shoot 250-300 yards all the time. Only challenging thing you gotta do is adjust 45+MOA to get there, which means some scopes would of bottom out loooonnnngg before, but you can always kentucky windage your shots!

As someone else said, the barrel length doesnt make it more accurate, it does however give you more velocity but like they also said, 16-18" is max for 22LR powder.

If you are going to be paper punching at 100yd, why that gun? Why not a marlin 795, much cheaper, and probably more accurate. I have one and it makes it too easy and boring. A 10/22 would be a much better investment if you are looking to make a tack driver and you can upgrade if/when you need to.
