    Marlin 795 Magazine release

Has anyone here been able to modify the Magazine release?

The problem I am having is that it is to stiff for my 9yo daughter to operate. We have been practicing with it nightly since we got it out of jail and she can do it without a mag inserted. She just just needs a little more strength/leverage to actually release a mag.

Is the rifle stock on the ground when you're trying to release it, or is it being held with one of your/her arms? I found it stiff in the beginning as well, but pushing down and wiggling it out helps.

We have tried both methods. Pushing and wiggling sounds like it might help, something new to try anyway.

I took a small wire brush to the magwell for about 10mins seemed to help

I couldn't even pull my mag out when i was picking it up at the LGS. Even the guy behind the counter had a hard time getting it out. it took me a couple of minutes to get it out but once i did it got easier every time. but the wire brush sounds like a good idea, i'm gonna try it out.

Some of the aftermarket trigger guards are cut back more and make getting to the release easier.
