I heard of GSG. My son showed interest in a .22lr AR,MP5 etc style firearms. I will be looking at getting Him the very best. I am aware that there are several companies making those rifles. Any tips will help. Thank You.

The Umarex MP5 replicas are pretty nice. I bought the A5 version and it has a very nice solid feel to it. Below are links to the product page:

The front sight uses an inserted post rather than a slide in sight blade on a real MP5, the optic rail uses a GSG and UTG/MFI makes one specifically for the GSG/Umarex, and the stock is proprietary using neither the GSG or MP5. I've read posts where people modified real MP5 stocks to fit it, but is a costly endeavor given the high price of real MP5 stocks. The magazine is true to the size of an actual MP5 magazine with a very nice lever assisted loading thing. Also, there's a side magazine eject button similar to an AR-15 to the right which is part of the same mechanism as the paddle magazine eject to the front of the trigger guard.

I have a GSG-5 (ATI GSG's MP5 clone). It is really nice, has a good price, and is easy to obtain locally (Big 5 has these in stock usually).

I don't know if it's the best, but you won't be disappointed.

Bought it from Irvington Arms in Fremont. They didn't have it in stock, but ordered it through them.

if you're near Sac, River City Gun Exchange has GSG-5's for $320. Sacramento Black Rifle will usually do price matching/beating too. (I prefer to give SBR my business whenever possible)
