Yes, just contacted Dave and ordered a CMMG M4 upper w/the front sight plus stainless bolt and a true forward assist! Can't wait to try it out - planning on gettin more range time since my preferred outdoor rifle range for my centerfire AR's are 75 miles one-way away from my house.

Was thinking to save some dough by just gettin the conversion kit but Dave informed me that the accuracy would be twice the grouping since an AR barrel twist is 1-7, 1-9 when 22LR likes 1-12 and higher. Thought for real enjoyment and practicality accuracy would be a nice feature to top it off for some good training.

Yup... I have two of CMMG's .22LR Uppers and both are very accurate, very fun, and very economical...

I have the SS CMMG kit. It runs quite a bit better than my brothers parkerized kit. It's definitly worth the upgrade.

Mine does seem to run better with CCI Mini Mags or Federal bulk ammo. If you can the upper is worth the upgrade over just the kit. The accuracy out of a 5.56 barrel isn't that great.

Understand, this is not the Evolution and will not have the features.

What are the main differences between the original conversion and the Evolution?

+1. Bump Is the Evolution buying a whole new barrel/dedicated barrel?

The Evolution is stainless steel, has forward assist, cotter pin holds the firing pin, push pin holds the extractor, is piston compatable, machined to reliability with the BHOA, and has live round extraction.
The older kits have none of those features.

Vamfire on my multi-cal lower. Screw it in for rimfire. Then out to a BB for center.

This will be my first .22lr and i've been thinking a lot about getting one. It seems fun to plink all day

I have a piston ar15 (pof). I noticed that its only for use for DI ar's but on cmmg website it states that i can just remove the piston parts which isn't a problem.
                      DIRECT QUOTE from CMMG's website:
("Note: For Direct Gas Impingement AR-15's. Not compatible with Gas Piston Systems without removing the piston. Only for use in 5.56 NATO chambered AR-15 rifles.")

So my question is what are the pros and cons for buying the conversion kit instead of a full complete upper other than the cost savings?

Will my rifle get more dirty (I assume it would if it gets really dirty i may opt for the complete upper)? Will it be less accurate compared to a regular dedicated upper .22lr because of the twist rate?

Shortened the barrels life (if you shot a lot of .22lr and 5.56 ammo) and may add up cause it's so cheap to shot .22's.

I was thinking of getting a full upper cause i already have spikes ar15 lower and a trigger system already and i would need is a butt stock and maybe few other accessories.

If i chose to go with the complete upper instead of the kit, cmmg has upgrades to the upper. Can you guys explain some of these upgrades and if it's needed? well i don't care for the handguard upgrade. But not sure what some of these other upgrades mean and if it's a good idea to get them or waste of money which im not trying to spend a whole lot. But if it's a good idea i will get it.

Also is this upper the new evolution or the upgraded version from the previous upper?

                      Upper Receiver Upgrade
                      Collar Upgrade
                      Handguard Upgrade
                      Rifle Kit Upgrade
                      Bolt Hold Open Actuator Upgrade

Here's a direct link of the upper upgrades CMMG complete upper

Can you guys suggest any other decent .22lr uppers other than cmmg? I was looking into chiappa barrels .22lr but one guy said that it has a fake forward assist and fake flash hider. Not sure about the quality of this company. But it's pretty cheap (under $300 for an upper).

Any suggestions and advise would be great cause i'm pretty serious of getting one.

                      Thanks.
