What Scope for Savage MK II?

I brought home a Savage Mark II FV today, and am now searching for a scope to put on it. I've read the threads on rimfirecentral.com, and they are all recommending the Weaver and Clearidge scopes at around $300.

Now I understand the purpose behind a good scope, but I am not about to pay more for the glass than I did for the rifle. What would you guys recommend for less than $200?

This rifle will be used for hunting and some target shooting. What would you guys suggest?

I will suggest the centerpoints from walmart. I have beat the crap out of mine on my 22s and even torture tested one on my gamo springer pellet gun, and they work flawlessly. I cant see putting a $300 scope on a rimfire.

Check out the Hawke scopes at straightshooters.com It's an air rifle site, but has some decent scopes for the money. And they are adjustable objective down to 10 yards. Most fixed objective scopes are set to 100 yards, or if they are meant for centerfire rifles, will adjust to a minimum of 50 yards. I've got a 3-9x40 on an Air Arms spring gun, and it's held up well to the recoil. It will definitely handle .22 Just my $.02
