    .22 ammo ?

What do you find to be the most accurate at 100yds ?
    Off the shelf stuff ...

    HP ? reg tip ?

    Remington , winchester ????

I did alot of shooting yesterday at 100yds and had a mixed bag of ammo.
I did have a cross wind but each brand had a mind of it's own

All my rimfire rifles want something different. I had a sit down talk with them, but it did no good. Not only will they not agree on one brand they all wanted the imported stuff.

    Cheeky lot.

I have not found ONE particular brand of ammo that is better. I am sure I am not as proficient a shooter as many here, but I have found the bulk Federal to be my best choice. After about 1600 rounds, not 1 fail to fire or eject. I have found that the Remington golden bullet has given a few problems. BTW this is with a stock 10/22.

are you shooting match or just plinking.

if the former you will need SV round so the sound barrier transition wont throw off your trajectory.

It depends of the gun. My single six likes wildcats, my SW model 41 likes CCI and my 10/22 likes fiocchi. I would buy 50 rounds boxs of different manfactures and see what got better groups. NOW when you get really into it you need to measure the rim thickness of each roundand group the rim thickness together when you are shooting your rounds. believe it or not the rim thickness of each round will through off your grouping. The best manfacture in my experience of rim thickness is CCI but it mostly comes down to what the gun likes.

But I wouldn't do the rim thickness for every day shooting only if I was shooting comp as it takes a lot time and it dosent always help. When I shoot comp and I and shooting against top shooters I thnk it gives me that extra edge. But over the years the quality of ammo has immproved and this maynot be nessary anymore.
          ,
They had mixed results and maybe even contradictory but here is a write up:

If you want to step up a little in price check out CCI Green Tag ammo.
Comes in 100 round plastic boxes and is a competion round. Might be more consistant manufacturing wise, like they told you there are a lot more expensive out there.
            Happy Shooting.

All of my .22s like CCI Mini-Mags and the CCI Sub-Sonic Segmented HPs. Mini-Mags are the only off-the-shelf ammo at Walmart that my guns like.

Only thing you can do is buy as many different types as you can and shoot each one.

I've gone through over a dozen different types of .22 ammo for one of my rifles, and I'm not even getting to the good match stuff yet.

Wolf Match Target (MT) and CCI Standard Velocity (SV) are consistent performers at a decent price and are worth checking out.

As far as I can tell the CCI Mini-Mags function reliable even in very finicky weapons and the accuracy is usually at least OK. If you're really looking at match accuracy you would go here: http://www.championshooters.com/store/home.php?cat=284

...and buy a selection of a dozen or so boxes of all different types. Then test to see what it likes. If that sounds like something you don't want to deal with or if the $19/50 rounds for Eley Tenex strikes you as being disturbing just pick up some Wolf Match and some Mini Mags and see how that goes for you.

Wolf/SK. I use the Match Target and have excellent results.

Eley target is extremely consistent for me. Eley sport is also the best plinking ammo out of my several of my .22's. You pay a little more for it than a lot of others, but it's one of those that actually DELIVERS the extra consistency you are paying for.
9mm and 45acp are equally lousy. There's not a dime's worth of difference in REAL terminal ballistics. Get over it.
