Yes, and at a bargain price.

As a former Paramedic I can tell you I've seen a good number of people who have died from .22's. Any caliber of weapon can kill a person. I can even say I've seen failed baseball bat attacks so take your pick!

My primary SHTF gun is a Marlin 795 scoped and zeroed at 100 yds. The reason is that at 100 yds, there is more than substantial velocity to penetrate for a lethal headshot, I can hunt with it, and stockpiling .22LR HP's is ridiculously inexpensive compared to other ammo. It's very affordable to have 10,000 rounds sitting around. Try doing that with any other caliber modern firearm.

The fact is that if the ***** ever does hit the fan, ammo may not be readily available. And it's a lot easier to carry 10 or 20 bricks of .22LR than other calibers. Of course there are many other things to consider if SHTF, but .22LR makes the firearms part cheap and easy.

          Agreed.

.22 isn't what I'd prefer for an intruder but if it's the nearest weapon I'm not going to feel under-equipped. In the small confines of a home I could dump the mag in seconds and it will be accurate and ruin the intruders day for sure.

I mean, who needs to dive bomb when SHTF? That only happens in movies.

Ive had to defend myself twice, both times from packs of wild dogs. once with a 22 pistol and once with a shovel. the first dog I shot with the pistol turned and ran like a scalded dog. his budys close behind. dogs have a really good idea of when they have turned from preditors to prey. same way with the shovel they get the idea real quick. Im willing to bet most Dirtbags have the same instintive way, knowing when the tables have turned. DR

I handled one of these and was impressed. Felt like a water pistol, but 30 rounds of .22 magnum ought to work?
I own one. Feels like a plastic toy, but is more gnarly then a .45 or 9mm when you shoot it.

Btw aent there are more deaths with .22 than any other caliber. Seems like a silent killer

A guy I know at work who owns in excess of 300 guns (he says he actually doesn't know the exact count) - uses a .22 as his HD weapon. When I asked him why, when he obviously has literally everything else to choose from, he said that not only can he comfortably put 10/10 into the space between a person's eyes, he wouldn't feel too broken up when the cops came to confiscate his HD weapon.

It would not be my first choice, but if I had say a preban 50 round drum for a 10/22 or SR-22 that worked right, you could definitly do worse.

And if my choice was between my 22/45 or single six and a bat, I would go for the .22cal

better a .22 than any hand to hand weapon

9 times out of 10 just flashing ANY firearm is going to make the average b&e thief take flight. Naturally if its actually a home invasion with suspects believing you have lots of cash or possibly drugs, all that goes out the window. But if you're wealthy or a dealer, chances are you've got something better than a .22. Still I'd rather run away from someone while shooting a .22 over my shoulder than charge someone with a bat.

                        I wouldn't hesitate to use a .22.

.22 will work, but placement is key. Many people have been killed from a .22, but the shot needs to be placed properly.

i feel as if the .22 would be great for HD. you wont have ears if you ever needed to use it, also it will be easier to control when you have so many things going on at once. its more important to hit what you want then to worry about if it will have enough stopping power.

Anyone saying a 22lr is underpower obviously only hear stories or read stories only.

I saw a shooting back when I was a kid at my cusins apartment. Two gangsters going at it. One shot a higher caliber pistol, another was with a 22lr pistol. The one hit with a 22lr drop in the middle of the street after a few shots, the shooter ran off.

I remember watching it from the balcony in shock...haunted me for a few years.

I know 22 can be lethal just as much as any caliber and I would trust my life with one.

I know of two people shot with a .22 revolver, the first was shot five times in the chest and neck as he fought for his life. The second was the brother of the first. He was shot once as he came back after hearing the shots against his brother. As he came close the last shot from the revolver hit him in the head killing within seconds.

I can put all shots from my .40, .22, or 9mm where they need to go and would choose whichever was readily available.
