    Heritage Mfg-SA .22LR/.22 mag

There are already 2 threads in recent days on this brand.
Turners sale ad shows the 4 3/4" with fixed sights for $159.98. The 6 1/2" with adj. rear and fiber optic front is $199.98. This was a thread last night.
Another poster did not put brand name in the title. I am afraid some of you may over-look the threads because of this.
I am really interested in this brand. I am leaning twards the 6.5" as a plinker/training gun for kids and newbies.
    Please tell me your personal experiencers if you have owned or shot this brand;
    Is reliability/quality good?
    Is it reasonably accurate?
    Thank you.

I found enough responses elsewhere to commit to the 6.5" Rough Rider last night. The safety on a revolver is a little odd and fiber optic sights on an SA revolver is not very authentic. I bought it as a plinker, not as a collectible.
The action is nowhere near as smooth as the Ruger, but should be fine for .22LR. I will stick with the LR and not fire too many mags through it.

Good call sticking with the fixed sights, the fiber optic ones do look weird on it. I have one with the 4 3/4" barrel and love it, never a single problem in well over 1,000 rounds through it. It's the kind of gun everyone wants to shoot, and has fun with. You'll dig it and yes, the safety is weird, but I always leave it off and do the old school load one skip one load four thing so it rests on empty, or just not fully cock hammer til it's ready to go. You won't even notice the safety after awhile, but it is nice it's there in case someone needs help loading it, it's a good idea and as a SA safety it is much better than a transfer bar safety IMO.

I have one, it works great for plinking and for new shooters, 6.5 is the way to go!

When I was considering one, I ran into posts on multiple forums of happy owners. I got a Ruger single six used on this forum and paid twice the price. Don't know that I shoot it enough to justify that price; I bet yours gives you lots of fun. Enjoy - now the 10 day wait.

I have a couple single sizes and a HA. The HA is a fine gun for a trainer or loaner but, fit and finish are very inferior to those of a SS. That said, for the money, it's hard to beat a HA.

You get what you pay for...

The painted "finish" on the frame isn't the best. As far as paint goes, I guess. It sends bullets down range in a decent manner. The 6.5" might be easier to shoot. I had a 6.5" convertible and it worked well. After I bought a ruger single six, I never looked back.

I love my Heritage RR. The fit and finish may not be the best but I bought it so I could use it and abuse it and not really care. I have never had any quality issues pertaining to the mechanics of the gun. It has functioned flawlessly. The finish is wearing off though. I have the fixed sight model and had to bend the front sight to the left but it was no biggie. I have the 6 1/2" barrel and if I did it again I would buy the 4 3/4". They also offer it with a .22mag cylinder which is pretty cool. I would say go buy one. It will function great but don't expect your finish to last forever.

I have a 4 3/4" with fixed sights as well. Its not the most polished gun out there, but it works like a charm and is decently accurate. Tons of fun to shoot and very reliable. And I actually have other 22LRs, so I shoot mine mostly with 22mag.

I checked one out last night and thought about putting a deposit down on one. I ended up passing on it since I'd rather have a DA and I'm waiting for the GSG1911 as well. Smokin' deal though, that's for sure.

Mine was bought as a plinker and semi serious target style shooting on a budget. If you are too then your in good company as it's been a good shooter and the internal mechanism has worked fine and never locked up in anyway. The finish could be better but for the price it's not bad at all! You can shoot 22LR's all day and switch to the magnum cylinder for some mo power when you want it.

In addition it can be an excellent gun to carry with your if you back-pack in areas that allow firearms. Get a good holster and carry in confidense OR just toss it in your pack along with a couple boxes of ammo for survival purposes. If I did this I would also carry my Charter Arms AR-7 as a companion.

Picked one of these (4 3/4 fixed) up for my girlfriend at $150 OTD about a year ago. It's been an excellent shooter and a really fun gun considering it's ridiculously low price. Never had a hiccup, never throws strays and the lack luster finish is still as it was the day we got it. It may not be the prettiest thing ever, but its definitely durable enough for nonretards. I mean for that price, I'd have a hard time even considering finish as a priority. For her first gun safety, reliability, decent accuracy and (most importantly) fun factor were my top priorities. This thing has those features and has been a fantastic platform to teach her the fundamentals of shooting.

Any local dealers for the 4 3/4" in the bay area/san jose?

I'm wondering the same thing, but for the 6 1/2" version.

HI. I bought mine a couple of years ago. Runs great. Once the timing was off. First year. I sent it back. It was returned same week no charge. Except my outbound postage.
                              Worth what it cost,
                              Good luck,
