    Henry Lever Action 22LR

I got this one as kind of impulse buy... was in a good mood, got a decent price, and was already DROSing something else. Perfect time to add another one onto the DROS, right?

I really wanted a Marlin 39A, but it was a bit out of my budget. I took a look at the Henry and it seemed to be put together pretty nicely. Nice walnut stock, no frills, and a pretty decent weight to it.

I finally got to take it out to the range last night and put some lead through it! It has a nice slim profile, so it fits in my case nicely, leaving plenty of room for other stuff. The stock leaf sights are pretty decent. It would be nice to have a rear peep sight and gold bead on the front sight post, but whatever. For a $300 rifle, I am not going to be that picky. Really easy to load. I like not having to lug around a bunch of magazines, loaders, etc. REALLY nice to have a 15 round capacity instead of the usual 10 rounds.

The lever action is really smooth. The trigger has a nice crisp break and it just as smooth. The walnut stock felt good and helped soak up most of the recoil. I had zero jams and zero FTF/FTE through about 250 rounds. Really good rifle out of the box and I think I'll be keeping this one for quite some time.

Got a pretty good feel for it after about 20-30 rounds. Not really sure how to adjust the sights, since I am shooting a little high and to the left. Target was out at 25 yds since I was indoors at the time. I had a couple fliers here and there when I got lazy or lost the front sight post. Put about 25 rounds into the target and I think I'm pretty happy with it. Using regular CCI Blazer 40g stuff, nothing special. It'll be nice to take it outdoors and take it out a little farther.

    Nice Rifle..Nice report...Thanks..!

I am seriously thinking about a Henry in .22 magnum. I already have several .22 rifles; autoloaders, lever and pump. I have a .22 magnum bolt but that Henry looks good to me.........

Thanks for sharing. I was at a local shop on Tue and looked at one. I am most likely going to purchase it. Yesterday, I did a lot of internet research for a rear peep sight. Unless you want to drill and tap, the best product out there is by Skinner Sights. They sell a rear peep sight that uses the dovetail for where the buckhorn. My understanding (I didn't look carefully when at the shop) is that you can't change out the front sight but I think the Skinner sight might work just fine with the Skinner sight. Also, for $50 you can buy from Henry and enlarged lever loop.
RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.
