I dont think this could be the cure
but have you tried any other brands or varieties of ammo?

You can feel the extractor slipping off the case rim? Can you see the extractor slipping? Make and model may help to diagnose the problem.

Suggestions ~ Clean the chamber, clean the breech face, clean the bolt face, clean the extractor notches in the barrel, clean under the LH and RH extractors, swage the chamber, make sure the firing pin moves freely, check the feed mechanism (and the next cartridge in line) for interferance and increase extractor tension.

IIRC the firing pin lies in the top of bolt, regardless, check the breech face to see if there is a mark where the firing pin is striking.

When the firing pin strikes the breech face, it frequently will move metal into the chamber. The cartridge may chamber fine, but upon firing the case expands forward of this piece of metal and may cause the problem you describe.

If this is the issue, the metal must be swaged/ironed back into place, do not use a file.
