    Marlin 39A

    Hi There,

This is an introduction from a newbie to the site, but I've lived in CA all my life, and I'm not new to guns.

I'm in the market for a Marlin 39A lever action .22. Ideally, I'd like to find a moderately used one with some character, since it will match my other guns better. I've got a Marlin 983 (.22 magmun) and a model 336 (30-30).

I'm in Orange County, and I would like to find one in southern CA so I don't have to deal with the cost of shipping and fees. The ones I've seen at the pawn shops are priced high, in my opinion. I'm looking for the $300 - $400 range.

Any suggestions or leads on one of these?

    Thanks!!

    look on www.rimfirecentral.com, www.rimfireshooters.com, www.graybeardoutdoors.com and www.leverguns.com

they're all excellent sources for levers.

      Thanks donw!

I know about a couple of those sites, but not all of them, so that gives me more to keep busy in my spare time!

I know the right one will come along. If not, I will probably just step up and spend the $ on a new one.

      Thanks again.

Keep an eye on the WTS section here, they pop up once in a while. Even though you can buy a new one almost anywhere, I prefer something a bit older with some character as well. The 39 is one of my all time favorites...

From the highroad.org All you ever wanted to know and much more. Hang in there on your search for an older model. In my humble opinion much better than newer models.

                Socal dad,

In a few days I will be posting several guns for sale, one of them is likely to be my Marlin 39A Golden. From what I remember when I first got it, it was manufactured around 1963-64, and it comes with a Weaver 4x scope. I will likely price it at $450. Stay tuned - I haven't posted it yet, but will soon.

It's a lovely rifle, but it's become something of a safe queen not so much because I'm afraid to shoot it, but more because I enjoy my 10/22 so much. The rifle is the 19-shot one.

                  ^^^^^^^^^^^
At that price Blast it won't last more than 10 minutes. Depending on condition. Good luck with your sale.

Love mine. It was my first firearm, handed down from dad.

Your going to enjoy that rifle. The early ones are made much better than the new ones, and no hammer safety. I love mine.
