Next time I am at Iron Sights in O'side, I will have to bench rest my M&P 15-22 with red dot and compare. Maybe I'll see you there.

Do you have an AR conversion or factory AR22?

      Droppin Deuces,

Like the others have said the best and proven distance would be 50 yards using a spotting scope to observe the groupings before their measured by a ruler.

The standard stock barrel of your 10-22 rifle should give you an easy 1" groupings with a pretty good variety of ammo. Remember when testing from one brand to another remember to "dress the bore" first by shooting about 25 rounds first before you begin to shoot for groups. using a good stable rifle rest and bags.

Good luck and most of all have fun doing it!!!

Absolutely. That would be cool. In fact, drop me a PM if you ever want to meet down there. I have a membership, but that's about to run out on the first of July, and I'm not sure if I'm going to renew or not.

I have a Tactical Solutions AR upper that seems to do pretty well. I'm not exactly bench resting it, though. What I do is rest the bottom of the grip on the bench and support the front end with my non shooting hand, so groupings tend to depend greatly on how patient I'm being. I should go ahead and use some bags and see what it will really do

Thanks! So far, the most consistent ammo I've used has been CCI Mini mag with the worst being Federal bulk. I really don't know why I still buy that stuff.

Anyway, I'm surprised to hear that a stock 10/22 will shoot that well. I guess a side-by-side comparo with the TacSol upper is going to have to be done

          DD,

Again that's with a completely stock 10-22. Allot of it's acuracy is dependent on how one pulls the trigger well.

For comparison you can also try CCI "Blazer" ammo....it's suppose to be the same ammo but without the copper coating and I usually prefer Blazer over the Mini Mag.
