    Removing the scope base on a Ruger 10/22

    I would like to remove the scope base on my 10/22. I don't have the original screws. Anyone know where I can the correct shorter screws to fill the holes. If I leave the screws out there's a open hole right into the bolt. Thanks for the help.

      you can just reuse the screws for the scope base. just don't tighten them down all the way or put a small o-ring that is the same thickness as the scope base so you can tighten it without letting it protrude into the bolt area.

          Brownells lists them under "Ruger Screws" but they are sold out now.
          These are tough to find.

                  Ruger does not show them on their parts list for the 10/22. (?????)

                  If your Google-fu is strong today, perhaps you can find some and post a link.

                      ... leaving the holes open won't actually hurt anything.

                      When my dad gave me my 10/22, for some reason he kept the rail and the scope that was on it. No idea why, but w/e. The hole were open for about 20 years, until I put a scope on it couple summers back.
