American will have a 3/8" dovetail. Take a look at BKL mounts they work well with either 11mm or 3/8".

I have the American and the Euro version. Nearly all 3/8" used for US standard grooved has worked on the 11 mm Euro. 11 mm = .44" and 3/8" = .375" (I think my math's OK) so they're not far off. Your American was made to take the standard 3/8".

3/8" dovetail is measured at the bottom and 11mm is measured at the top. Also the angle is different the 3/8" is cut 45 degree the 11mm is 60 degree. So it is not as simple as comparing the basic numbers. BKL mounts have a centering feature as well as compatibility with both sizes.

The BKL rings will fit but will set your scope very high. I prefer the scope to sit just off the barrel to minimize parallax. Since you have stepped up to a high quality .22 you might as well get the optimal rings.

I recommend Burris Signature Rimfire rings in Medium height, part 420554:

i'd like to suggest the factory rings...i have them in a 'high' set, lapped them for my Leupold scope and have no complaints...

How does the height of the scope minimize parallax?

How does the height of the scope minimize parallax?
Scope/ring height has nothing to do with parallax. Parallax is simply focus at a distance that is certain. A scope has parallax even if unmounted on a rifle. Here is how ring height is perceived to affect parallax though. When using a non adjustable objective scope, parallax is fixed at some point lets say 50 yards for a rimfire rifle. When viewing objects at 35yds or 65yrds the focus/parallax will not be optimal and parallax will rear its ugly head and ring height will come into play. If ring height/cheek weld doesn't allow one to position the eye at the optimal and consistant position for the least parallax then parallax will be seen as worse and it will vary and induce more error. When using a AO scope, ring height is only a comfort and cheek weld issue. Parallax is not related to ring height the effect of parallax, more or less, is related to how ones eye is positioned with the non AO scope and can you place it there every shot. If high rings work good if low work for you that is good but actual height is a non issue think cheek weld and comfort.
Don't get me started on cant and ring height. This is the issue not parallax. Use a AO scope and get the height worked out for comfort and cheek weld.
