See-Through scope mounts

Anybody ever use these?

If they mount solidly enough, this may be the best of both worlds and solve my problem of crappy iron sights on my Marlin 795 combined with my lousy target aquisition skills when using a scope.

The only problem i can see is if the scope itself mounts in a way which interferes with your irons. I personally never liked them because it can get to confusing to me to pick out the small irons through the holes and under the scope. If i used them they wouldn't necessarily be for "quick target acquisition"

You may have problems with those mounts holding firmly enough against the bolt battering the receiver on the 795. This is a common problem on the Marlin 60 and 795. You might be better off with a UTG one piece mount with three hold down screws to prevent movement of the scope. I think I got mine at Pyramid Air. Don't try to skimp on the scope mounts, get good ones and you will be happier. Nothing worse that a scope that moving on the groove in the receiver.

I used see-thru style rings when I put a scope on my son's 10/22.
My regret is that the scope is mounted a little high, so he need a cheek pad in order to get a good cheek-weld.

On my 795, I used the cheepest 2-piece set I could find (non see-thru). I did use the "Blue Locktite" to keep it in place.

I have used them many years ago and am not a big fan either, for the same reasons others have already mentioned. There are a couple styles that tend to sit a little lower and/or are less distracting than others. Here are a some options:

Are these red-dot type visible in bright light conditions?

Would these be somewhere in between open sights and a tube type scope or red-dot in terms of target aquisition?

Made a decision

Went with a Barska 4x28 Elactro-Sight... Red or Green crosshairs, and I like the fact that the crosshairs still show without power. Just put the WallyWorld bipod on the other day, anxious to get out and see what she can do now.

A little heavier now, but it was almost too light before. (kinda' felt like a toy)
