What about Reflex type sights for a Marlin 795? I saw a TruGlo at Turner's for $80, for example.

I'm looking for options to the horrible Iron sights that came on this rifle, but I have trouble with quick target aquisition when using a scope, so I kinda' want something in between.

Which ones show up well in bright sunlight? I looked at a couple of Barska's at Big 5 and when I pointed them out the window the dot went bye-bye.

I just can't justify spending more on sights than I spent on the rifle, so what's cheap and good?
    Whats your budget?

      I have a BSA R/B/G dot 30mm I'll sell you. Got it at Big5 for $39. $20 plus shipping.

Well the rifle cost me about $100 and it seems wrong to spend more than that for sights on a plinker.

If there's an adequate option for $30-$50 that would make the most sense, but I don't want to spend $40 on junk if I can get something good for $60.

The gun's a blast with the crappy iron sights, but they're so hard to read (black on black) that I just think I could be a lot more precise with something else.

Is this for an Appleseed? If it is you dont want to use a red dot. I will not allow you to refine your groups. I only ask about the Appleseed part because you mentined 25 feet.

No. Its not for Appleseed though I would like to take a class one day using my 22. But I rather use iron sights for that but I dont know if you can use anything else.

As mentioned I am considering iron sights for the rifle as well. I dont like electronics on my guns.

As for whipkiller I am in the same boat. Its hard for me to spend alot of money on a plinker. Though my Ruger is more expensive than the Marlin you mentioned.

Oh and Clutch-n-Throttle send me a PM with your location and we can go from there. $20 + shipping is better than $39 at my local Big5 depending on shippin costs. Oh and nice rifle.

Thanks for others for their suggestions. Im stuck between those red dots and something like tech sights. I hate choices.

I was just at an Appleseed and some were using irons, others scope, so I think they would let you use red dots.

Oh ya, red dots are fine to use at an Appleseed its just the dot will cover the target a bit cross hairs or iron sights work great

Heck for the one inch square my cross hairs seemed to large at the apple seeds. I ended up setting scope up to just a tiny bit left and a tiny bit up so I could see the target. I would not dream of trying to shoot riflemen with any dot site that was larger than 2 moa.

red dots are good for low to dark shooting light conditions, too.

i think you'll find that the more precise red dot you want, the more it will cost.

i would suggest you save the $$$$ and spring for a higher dollar one.

izzy43 suggested a holo sight, a good idea. there is normally no distortion of image and the crosshairs/dots/chevrons are normally very clear and precise to enhance accuracy.

You know, I got two BSA 30mm at walmart for my Airsoft, decided to throw it on my AR since I was waiting for sights to come in. It held zero after about 500 rounds, I decided to break it by mounting it on my44, still held zero. It's now sitting on my gsg-5 with no issues... Pretty impress with it so far. Only thing is, their ugly. Lol

Forgot about this thread, but thanks for the suggestions...

At the moment, I'm more in the market for a compact scope with either variable or fixed magnification for both my 10/22 and my WASR AK. But red dots are still an option I'm looking into, so suggestions for both or either are welcome.

Note; I'd like the option for the red dot or scope to be used on both my AK and 10/22, so something not rimfire specific would be outstanding, though it seems some rimfire optics will hold together with larger calibers.
