Tannerite Targets

I am kind of new to the gun world so please be easy on me... LOL. I just ordered a case of Tannerite Exploding Targets.... Once I received them I noticed that they do not work with a 22 rifle. That is what I bought them for. So I sent the company an email. He said they will work with a 17 HMR... Not sure what that is so looked it up on wikipedia.... Can I shoot the 17 HMR in my 22 rifle? I am a little confused. Thanks.

Exactly and when in doubt look on the barrel of the firearm it will tell you EXACTLY what you can shoot in that firearm.

This question and others like it is asked many times which seems to indicate that some folks don't read their owners manual.

17 WILL work. Just don't exceed 100 yards because of the drop in velocity

But if your looking for a good, and I mean GOOD .22 LR target check out white lightning targets.

They are freakin loud ( Not like the sissy atlas targets ) and comparible to Tannerite.

Tannerite needs high velocity to be set off. I was told 2000 fps minimum.

I've seen Tannerite set off by:

7.62x39
.223
5.45x39
7.62x54r
.308
.30-06
.50 BMG

Cartridges I've seen fail to set it off:

.22lr
.45 ACP

BTW you will need a new gun to shoot .17 HMR

what kind of rifle do you have. cant a 10/22 be converted to shot 17? But you will need a high velocity caliber to make it detonate.
