i bought a ruger mark III

i rented one and fell in love with it so i bought the target model with the 5 and a half inch bull barrel in blue finish. i am going to get these silver metal grips because i like my guns to have style, and i think they would go great with the silver trigger and bolt face http://shopruger.com/Mark-II-Mark-II...uctinfo/13012/

It's usually somewhere on the last page of the thread.I bought one and think it was worth every penny.Also installed a MKII hammer bushing to eliminate the mag disconnect.Improved my trigger slightly and made reassembly easier.

Completely agree. Bruce's LCI fillers are great. I got mine just the other week. Well worth it. The LCI is notorious for causing extraction failures.

Removing the magazine disconnect is another good modification to make. I solved that by getting a Volquartsen Accurizing Kit for MKII to go in my MKIII 22/45. A Volquartsen MKII Hammer Bushing rounds out the parts replacements. There's other (cheaper) ways to accomplish removing the magazine disconnect; but that sorted out a lot of performance issues all at once. It's a very nice trigger mod, and not too terribly difficult to install.

Despite ample references, I still experienced the reassembly frustration everyone seems to go through. Seems like stripping Ruger rimfires is one of those experiences you really have to go through yourself once before you "get" it.

Watching the video, the process is close to identical with my Mark I and the tricky parts are exactly the same. When I first got my Mark I the process seemed impossible. Now I can do it in seconds. It is kind of fun at the range to casually mention that I have mastered this process. Many shooters and even range personnel are afraid of the Marks. It just takes a little practice and perseverance.

Assembly sucks, tear down is really easy. Did I mention reassembly REALLY sucks. That said, I love my MKIII and wouldn't get rid of it for the world. Its like a cheap hooker, runs all day and super cheap! I got a 6 7/8" Competition model with the slab sides and put a Volquartsen Comp on it. I'm thinking about going with different grips and tried the Volthane grip from volquartsen but it was a bit big for me. I like narrow grips. I'm thinking Nill or somebody else, but its a great pistol either way. My gun will actually shoot 650fps subsonic rounds with ease and cycle them. I haven't had any issues but a stovepipe here or there and a failed round but it wasn't the gun's fault.

This thread made me decide to pull mine apart and clean it.

I used a piece of brass to open the lever and once i realized I needed a mag in to push the hammer forward for final assembly it went back together fairly easy.

All clean and back in once piece..... this deserves a beer:
