    Rimfire Mag capacity?

Okay so I went to the range today and this guy keep arguing with me that you can buy high capacity mag for rimfire.. (we were talking about 10 22 not tube mag rifle) I kept trying to tell him its not the assult weapon thing but in CA 10 round mag limit. I even told him the stores will not sell it and they will tell you its illegal to sell.. he said they don't know what they are talking about..he told me anyone can buy them on-line.
I almost said to him.. okay then you sell me yours I'll pay $100 bucks.. of course I didn't say that but if I did, I know he would have broken the law for selling high capacity mags. but would I have also broken the law for buying it?

Thats why I don't usually talk to people at the range. To many know it alls.
I'm pretty sure if you bought his hi cap. Some kind of law would be broken.

He's an undercover cop. You did right by not falling into his trap.

Best not to argue with anyone about anything at a range especially things that are as controversial as high cap mags for 22s. In a group of 20 people you will get 25 opinions about that issue. I just stay clear of legal/illegal gun issues. Won't get me anywhere.

Why would you argue with a guy holding a gun?

you are allowed to buy them from anyone legally allowed to sell them within the state

            importing is forbidden

Don't argue with people at the range? Why would this person even come up to you to discuss it? MYOB. If you really must, bring up PC 12020 on your smart phone and show them(I think it's section a2) that it says nothing about centerfire mags, and then end the conversation.

                The law is specific.

While the law prohibits selling (with some exceptions) it does not prohibit buying.

So technically if this guy agreed to sell (or offered to sell) a high capacity (non tubefed) mag and wasnt a member of an excepted party (like an armored truck company owner) he would be breaking the law but you as the buyer would not be breaking the law yourself with this transaction.

We weren't really arguing.. He was telling me that non-sense and I try to tell him I'm pretty sure selling high cap was illegal.. when he insisted that he thought I was wrong.. I pretended to believe him because the guy was acting like a know it all and I wanted to end the conversation.

Thx. I'll just stick to my trimag anyways. I'm not sure how I'll explain to the law why I have high cap when I bought my rifle after the high cap ban.
