    Federal lightning

Walmart has fed lightning for about $15 for 500. So i bought a brick. Has anyone used this stuff? I usually buy the federal 550s.

I use it I like it. It doesn't run well in my Buckmark, it stove pipes often. It shoots fine in my Henry lever action and feeds well in my M&P 15-22. I like that it is in plastic holders like the CCI stuff. Some may not like that it is straight lead and not copperplated but I buy it at WallyWorld when they have it. I clean my guns often so I am not worried about leading. That's my opinion.

Shoots great in my sons Crickett rifle, and my 10-22. No problems with it at all.

Just put 500 through my 15-22, worked flawless, you'll have some grubby fingers with extensive shooting though.

Thanks everyone. I am planning to run this ammo through my 10/22, 15/22 and henry. Glad for the feed back. I'll probably go back and get more after i shoot this box up

They shoot very well in my 795. Much more accurate then the Federal Bulk packs at Walmart.
You can't beat the price when you can find them.

I'm glad to read the view is positive...I just bought a bunch because of the price.

I will have to see how they do this weekend. 40 grain seems to perform better out of my 795, and the when I saw the cost as compared to other brands I did a major impulse buy.

Anyone know if they sell these in larger quantities then the little 50 round boxes I saw?

                  This.
The 50 round boxes come in 500 round packs. Walmart just pulls them out of the 500 pack to sell some individually.

Not my favorite. They don't cycle the two pistols or three rifles consistently . Short stroking the semiautos and stovepipeing with failures to completely eject in at least every other mag.
Have had better luck with the Fed 550 bulk.

Of course mini mag CCI s being flawless in all guns is my goto ammo.

I preffer CCI and federal 550s too. But I'm not letting my boys blast away with CCI. The lightning was a few dollars cheaper, so i thought I'd give it try for plinking.

I have a seemingly stupid question...but here it goes anyway....

What is the difference between the Federal "Lightning" and the Federal "Automatch" besides 40fps as stated on the box?

Both are 40 grain, both are non-copper plated lead rounds, and the "lightning" is 1240 fps as opposed to the "automatch" 1200 fps.

Is that really the only difference?
