Is it just me or did the ammo quality go down

Today I shot 100 rounds of CCI MiniMags, Copper Plated Round Nose High Velocity .22LR and 20 of these rounds were duds. I was quite surprised by this from CCI. You would expect this from Federal but CCI? Anyway what are your thoughts? Also I shot out of a Ruger mark II

Seems like a lot of crap lately and from all brands. I blame the ammo/ gun buying scares and all these damn never ending wars....factories have to be going all out to meet demand.

Yes it has. Ammo I used to count on is hit and miss. It's hard to even dial in an optic any more without resorting to match grade ammo.

It may be the firearm and I would especially be leery of CMMG 22lr AR15 dedicated uppers!

I had a bulk pack of Federal that was giving me an FTF almost every mag and I thought it was my Neos until my buddy ran some through his Mark II and got the same thing.

Every 10 Round mag I loaded into the ruger had at least 1 or 2 FTF.

No problems shooting my 1st box of 375 CCI AR Tactical. I'm gonna shoot 1 or 2 more then try CCI blazer, federal, and maybe Winchester

Odd, I'm yet to experience a problem with CCI Mini-mags out of any one of my .22s. And the only duds I had with Federal bulk pack were actually due to that gun getting dirty and being a small gun at that (small .22s usually get dirty and start malfunctioning fairly quickly). I shoot the stuff I got from Walmart in the last year or so, too.

CCI mini mags maybe 1 or 2 out of 100 FTFs last range session. Winchester bulk, more FTFs in my handgun then rifle but still about 1 out of every 25 or 30. Federal bulk I get alot of FTFs, sometime 1 in every mag. It's not what is use to be.

I found CCI Minimags to be much more reliable than most 22 lr ammo. I usually feed my Ruger Mk II Winchester bulk ammo and get less than one failure per 100 rounds. Of course, Remington Golden Bullets had one or two failures per 100 and were absolutely filthy. I put 5,000 rounds through my Mk II last year. The extractor broke last year, which was quickly replaced.

I do clean my guns after every trip to the range. How clean is your Ruger? Most gun owners do not clean their Rugers Mk IIs regularly, because of challenging assembly.

I use CCI Minimags exclusively in my Umarex HK416 and have had zero failures in 1,500 rounds. But again, I clean my guns after every trip to the range.

                        Now you tell me

So what's the fix? I bought one, bought a 5000rd brick of Remington Thunderbolt 22 40gr.

At least 25% of the stuff won't chamber. First round chambers fine from the charging handle. Subsequent rounds may or may not chamber.

Broke the gun down and removed the BCG. Seems that on a good percentage of the rounds, the lead is "wiped" down over the brass and it sticks going into the chamber.
Are the tolerances on the CMMG upper just too tight, or what is the fix?

I just fired a box of 500 Federals from Walmart through my Sig 522 today, without a hiccup. Then I opened a box of Thunderbolts and had 3 FTFs in 40 rounds. I then cleaned the gun and tried again - another 3 FTFs in 80 rounds.

I think I'm gonna give Remmington a miss from now on...

One reason I went Rem is because my buddy has had nothing but trouble with American Eagle in his son's 10/22.
