    1022 tech sight question.

Do any of you 1022 tech sight owners happen to know how tall your front sight is? Thanks.

I have the TSR-200 and I installed a Lyman globe that is .854 (I think, measured from the bottom of the dovetail to the center of the globe) If I had to do it over, I would try to find something that goes up to .9 as the .854 is a little short. Bottoms out to zero at 25 YDs.

I also want to install a Lyman globe sight too but I dont know how tall of a front sight I need for my williams fp-gr-tk peep sight which is mounted to the factory rail. I did a google search and noticed that someone else was using the same rear sight set up but was using a front tech sight. He was able to targets as close as 15 yards with his set up. I want to do the same thing but with Lyman globe sights.

If you follow some of the links, you will see he listed 2 different heights and also some .250 risers. the 17 (.494) and one riser may work well for you.
Also, go to rimfire.com in anything 1022 Search on Williams, globes, ironsights, ect. You will find days of reading.

Exactly, I did not want to cut into the wood stock but if you are fine with that, the lower setups will work. I say order an assortment of front sights and risers and just return what you do not use. People will want different heights based on where they want to zero.

I ordered a .584 globe sight and depending on how close I can zero, I'll decide whether I need to buy risers or not. I want to be able to zero as close as 15 yards. Thanks again for all of your help.

Ok, I finally installed the Lyman front sight. I went with a .852 height sight. I haven't shot it yet but so far I'm loving my sight picture. Sorry for the crappy pic.

interesting, just picked up my 10/22 today. Can't stand the factory sights.

What is your opinion on these, and sight height? what is appropriate?

Oh and installation, do they require a smith?

I haven't shot it yet but like I said before, the sight picture is great. The rear sight is easy to adjust and the lyman front globe sight has interchangeable inserts too http://www.lymanproducts.com/lyman/s...series-17a.php.

At first it had a .584 front sight and I was shooting about 6 inches too high at 20 yards. I didn't want to put a riser on it so I just got a .852 sight. I'm going to the range this weekend and I'll let you know how it goes.

The front sight needs to get fitted to your rifle. So if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, I'd go to a gunsmith. You have to cut a small piece out of the left side of the stock in order to use a Williams fp-rg-tk rear sight.

Just an update, .852 height globe sight worked great. Was able to hit as low as 10 yards. Now it's time to go for long distance.
