    Ruger 10/22

So on Wednesday I will be able to pick up my first rifle. Any suggestions on what I should buy? Like cleaning kits, accessories, etc.

Lots & lots of ammo. Why would you even think of cleaning it?

Tech Sights would be on my list, as well as extra Mags.

Extra mags for sure, I bought 5 of those Eagle ones, and they seem to work fine. You'll be zipping thru 10 rds in few seconds.

Do the bolt release mod. It was the best thing I did on my 10 22

I would recommend buying a variety (as well as a large amount) of ammo to try. Different guns like different ammo and its kinda fun testing the different types to find the best results.

You may wish to get a scope if you dont already have one and perhaps a cheap rest for if you will shoot off a bench...doesnt have to be anything fancy but if you shake like a leaf like I do, it really helps

Oh and earplugs! 22's are pretty quiet but you can be sure to have some dude sitting next to you at the range with a bloody howitzer.

Congrats on your purchase and have fun!

My 10/22 magazine loader is the best shooting accessory I have ever bought.

Lots of ammo. The 10/22 was my first rifle also. I went to the gun range with 200 rnds of ammo thinking I had way more than I needed. I was out of ammo in less than an hour. When me and my sons go we take upwards of 1500 rnds and its all gone in a few hours.

                        1. 22lr is cheap and it flies downrange FAST thats why so many say ammo.
                        2. extra magazines - it sucks using only one, if you dont want to wait from on-line seller; the Big 5's that carry a hunting dept (guns) has them for about $20
                        3. do your own trigger work, bolt hold open mod etc.
                        4. practice shooting & enjoy

get a bore snake and any gun oil does fine.
A brahmin once asked The Blessed One:
                              "Are you a God?"
"No, brahmin" said The Blessed One.
                              "Are you a saint?"
"No, brahmin" said The Blessed One.
                              "Are you a magician?"
"No, brahmin" said The Blessed One.
                              "What are you then?"
                              "I am awake."
