Whats the real deal with this stock on a 10/22? Legal or not in CA. I have
seen places that will not ship to CA. and some either will or don't say.
Anyone have chapter and verse in state law that prohibits it?

b/c of the backwards anti-gun laws the lefties force fed our great state many gun dealers/stores will not ship anything to CA in fear of messing up and geting Big Brother on their back so they decide not to sell anthing here

since its a rimfire your OK center fire rifle BIG NO NO (ie. no folding stock on your SKS) - ive even seen the ATI folding stock @ Turners in reseda (same one I own & love it) - yup I said Reseda that Turners store that cant sell any snub noses due to L.A. You need to be careful if your 10/22 has a carbine length barrel. I think that the Butler Creek folding stock on a 16 inch barreled 10/22 might give you an overall length of less than 26 inches when the stock is folded. This would be considered a "short barreled rifle" under California case law.

as said before...as long as you pay attention to OAL and barrel length you should be good to go on a folder...

FWIW, IMO...i have yet to find a folding stock that i like, or that's secure enough for good accuracy at anything less than full out fast fire (that is to say..."spray 'n' pray" rate of fire.)

thanks for your inputs. FYI it is an early 1960's 10/22 with the 18" barrel. Just want to
make it more compact to put in a "GOOD" bag or box. Don't really need another gun right now.

You'll be fine with an 18" barrel. I just put a 16" CF barrel on mine and it would not have made length without the addition of a flash hider.

Does anyone have the weight of the 1022 stainless (18.5" barrel and 37" overall) with the butler creek folding stock? Does it make it heavier than the 5 lbs factory weight?

Also, does it change the length of pull and overall length in unfolded position?
